The offer sheet has been signed, but now doubt has crept into my head. I keep think about how much money the home costs and how big the monthly payment. Making the payment and the current bills I have willnot leave a whole lot left over for fun and finding trouble.
I paid off allof my credit cards and the only bills that remain are a student loan, cell phone, car insurance and with the new house it will add electricty, cable, internet and food. I am just worried.

finally
Back and forth! Over and over! On and on! Bid and counter, then bid again and a whole lot of waiting. Finally, yesterday we reached an agreement on a home in MS. We were right on the brink of renting and then the realtor worked on the sellers to both educate and guide them into seeing the light.
Next comes the scrambling to secure a mortgage, home inspection and the numerous hoops that must be jumped through until we close. did i mention that I am going to miss all of it. Yup, i am away for the next 5 weeks and I have left that task in the hands of my POA.
It is scary leaving that much responsibility in the hands of another, but I did not have the choice. I had a deadline and the sellers dragged their old feet every step of the way. In the end we got a very fair deal, but it is an awful lot of money! More than I ever imagined spending on a home.
The home is in a very upscale neighborhood and it immaculate in every way possible. i am excited about taking residence in a real adult neighborhood. The last home was in an area described as Bohemian. The new home is nestled in a community where there are sculpted lawns, river access and the home backs up to a nature reserve. So like nothing I have ever lived in.

on the prowl
A few days passed once the PA home sold and now time to focus on the purchase of the new home.
We knew the exact home we wanted and made a bid. The sellers countered and we countered that with no response. Apparantly, they sellers are stuck on a number and do not want to budge. They want to play hardball. Well, we made the next offer and told the agent if we do not hear back by that evening we are moving on to home number two. Letting them know we still have interest, but a few days for them to think about it may soften their stance.
On to house number two on the list. The home if four houses down from choice number one. This home has a few issues. The roof is old and needs replaced, the floorings all need replaced, the yard needs fencing and the kitchen requires a complete overhaul. Amazing as the home is only 13 years old, but looks as though old people lived there and did nothing to update the home. Seriously, the kitchen needs ripped apart. Taking all that into consideration we made the bid.
Mind you the home is listed at top dollar for the area. Our bid was 60K below asking and our agent stated she did not think there was a chance in hell the buyer would accept and the day passed without a response.
So, it looks like we move on to house number three, however, I am not feeling it. I think more and more I am considering renting a home over purchasing one. The market is crappy and these sellers have grand ideas of the value of their homes. If we do not come to an agreement by Saturday - we will be renters.
